Computer Networking - pier to pier and server based networking
Computer Networking
Benefits and pitfalls |
![]() |
Networking computers together is a great way of sharing information and devices. A good example is if you have a broadband router you can connect multiple computers to the internet through the one device (the broadband router).
Networking can get fairly complicated if your network starts to grow or you want to introduce a file server to share and store all your documents centrally. At this point you may want to bring in an external IT company to look after your network.
Another good example of why networking is a good idea is if say you have 5 computers and each one needs to print then you can purchase just 1 network compatible printer, set it up on your network and connect all 5 computers to the printer.
So basically the benefits of networking your computers is to share information and devices such as printers but the downside is that your IT becomes more complex.
